凉凉 Bracing the Chill

凉凉 Bracing the Chill
by 杨宗纬 Aska Yang,张碧晨 Zhang Bichen
from <<三生三世十里桃花 Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms>> Soundtrack

入夜渐微凉 繁花落地成霜
As night falls a slight chill grows
The many falling flowers becoming frost on the ground
你在远方眺望 耗尽所有暮光
You're looking out from far away
Wasting all the light of the setting sun
不思量 自难相忘
Not considering how hard it is for you to forget each other

夭夭桃花凉 前世你怎舍下
The tender peach flowers grow cold
How can you let go of the previous life
这一海心茫茫 还故作不痛不痒不牵强
This heart boundless like the ocean
And still pretending as if it doesn't heart, doesn't sting, isn't forced
都是假象
It's all an illusion

凉凉夜色 为你思念成河
The cold night scene
Longing for you becoming a river
化作春泥 呵护着我
Changing into spring mud
Protecting me
浅浅岁月 拂满爱人袖
The shallow years
Filling the sleeves of lovers
片片芳菲 入水流
Pieces of flowers and leaves
Falling into the flowing water

凉凉天意 潋滟一身花色
The cold will of heaven
Ripples overflowing with color
落入凡尘 伤情着我
Falling into the mortal world
Breaking my heart
生劫易渡 情劫难了
Life's calamities are easy to live through
But the heart's calamities are hard
折旧的心 还有几分前生的恨
The decaying heart
Still has some of the anger from a previous life

也曾鬓微霜 也曾因你回光
Yet once, frost formed at my temples
And once, looked back at the light for you
悠悠岁月漫长 怎能浪费时光
The unhurried years are long and slow
How can this time be wasted
去流浪 去换成长
Going to wander
Going to change for growth

灼灼桃花凉 今生愈渐滚烫
The brightly burning peach blossoms cool
This life slowly becomes hot
一朵已放心上 足够三生三世背影成双
A blossom already on my heart
It's enough for the landscape of three lives and three worlds to double
在水一方
By the waterside

凉凉三生三世 恍然如梦
The cold three lives, three worlds
Suddenly seems like a dream
须臾的年 风干泪痕
Years passing in a moment
The wind dries the traces of tears
若是回忆不能再相认
If it's a memory
No longer able to meet each other once again
就让情分 落九尘
Then let our feelings for each other
Fall to the very bottom

凉凉十里 何时还会春盛
The cold ten miles
When it bloom into spring again
又见树下 一盏风存
To see the wind blow
Beneath the trees once more
落花有意 流水无情
The flowers fall with purpose
The water flows without feeling
别让恩怨爱恨 凉透那花的纯
Don't let gratitude and resentment, love and hate
Freeze through the flowers' purity

吾生愿 牵尘
Our wish to be reborn connects worlds

Notes:
凉凉
(I used the English title they had on the Baidu page for this song, but there's really nothing about bracing anything. The Chinese phrase just means 'the cold' or 'the chill'. 'Chill' sounds better for a song, but I didn't really want to use 'chilling' in the actual lyric translations because it sounds like something is frightening instead.)
夭夭
(Interesting possible double meaning here. It's a literary term meaning both 'tender' & 'gentle' as well as 'to die young' so it could be showing that the flowers are both tender but wither early, like the who metaphor about cherry blossoms meaning mortality.)
潋滟一身花色
(Kind of weird this one. Alternative translation might be 'a body/on [one's] person, overflowing ripples of color' but I have no idea how it's supposed to connect to the first line.)
伤情着我
(Lit. hurting me emotionally)
折旧
(I looked it up and it literally means 'depreciating' as in economic value.)
回光
(Either means 'the last of the setting sun' or 'a dying flashback'. Shrugs.)
今生愈渐滚烫
(This sentence entirely depends on 愈 because it has a literary meaning to 'heal, recover' and another meaning as an adverb for 'more'. Yes, that means it could either mean 'this life recovers slowly from the boiling heat' or 'this life slowly becomes more and more hot'. I just went with Google's translation tbh.)
九尘
(I looked this up and it's referring to 尘埃, which means 'dust' but apparently in ancient times people separated this into layers?? And 九尘 is the ninth layer? So basically the song is saying to let these feelings fall to the very bottom and let it be covered in dust, not to be disturbed.)
生愿
(Apparently refers to the concept of 'tanha' in Buddhism, specifically bhava-tanha or 'craving for existence'.)
