月弯弯 Crescent Moon
月弯弯 Crescent Moon
by 陈洁仪 Kit Chan
黑暗中你会看到谁的模样
In the darkness whose image do you see
谁会让你难过红了眼眶
Who's the one making you cry until your eyes are red
那一些来不及说出口的话
Those words that couldn't be said in time
以为时间会抚平伤
As if wounds could be healed by time
相约在老地方
Meeting at that familiar place
现在曲终人散场
Now the song has ended and the people have left
只剩当初信仰
The only thing left is the belief we had back then
回头望 人世无常
Looking back, nothing in this world is everlasting
月弯弯
The curving, crescent moon
痛得心碎了一半
Hurting until your heart breaks into two
月光把这些年 染得那么蓝
The moonlight dying these years in such a blue
等不到圆满 都怪我们不勇敢
Blaming our lack of courage for not waiting until it was full
你在我生命留下的遗憾 怎么还
The regret you've left in my life, how can it be returned
旧时光 缠着我不放
The past entangles me, not letting go
我的奢望该如何遗忘
How do I forget those wild hopes of mine
不敢想 回忆太漫长
Afraid to remember, those memories are too long
让眼泪那么不可抵抗
Making it impossible to stop these tears
月 弯 弯
The curving, crescent moon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
月弯弯 lit. the bending moon
(I just love *clenches fist* when they use adjectives as verbs but turn it into a phrase so it's still an adjective ???)
难过红了眼眶
(Who's the one making you so sad that your eyes turn red, from crying, except put out of context it kinds like someone's either getting really angry i.e. seeing red, or some mystical magic eyes. So it's really 'making you sad enough to cry until your eyes turn red but it sounds kind of wordy...)
曲终人散
(Idiom meaning something coming to an end, sadness following joyful reunion. Literally means when the song ends and the audience disperses.)
当初信仰 lit. faith/belief from the beginning
(There was nothing said about 'our' faith because gotta love the lack of pronouns in Chinese songs, but I added it because it sounded better)
等不到圆满 lit. can't wait for it to be complete
(So here's something lost in translation, 圆满 means complete, perfect, or full which is a play on the title, the crescent moon. The lyrics are saying they couldn't wait until the crescent moon became full, but also that they couldn't wait for completion/perfection, i.e. happiness.)
让眼泪那么不可抵抗
(Also could be [these memories are] 'letting these tears be so hard to stop'. 不可抵抗 literally means unable to resist but saying tears are irresistible is uhh....not the best translation to say the least.)

P.S. if you thought choose this song because I'm obsessed with 声入人心 a.k.a Super-Vocal well you're right and y'all should definitely go check out the cover that 周深 &王晰 (a.k.a Charlie Zhou & Elvis Wang), did on the show (this definitely will not be the last time I'm gonna be doing a song covered on this show).
