Notes:
岁月长河
(Lit. years' long river. I tried to find a way to keep the 'year' part but river of memory feels like it'd be a more used phrase in English and conveys pretty much the same idea. It was either that or switch the words for 'years' and 'time' around and say the years cycle in the river of time.)
前世今生
(Lit. the past world and the present life)
漫漫星河醉
(Oof I took some liberties with this one. So 漫漫 is overflowing, filled etc., 星河 means galaxy, literally starry river, and I really couldn't figure out how 醉 or drunk was supposed to play into all of this. I just took it to mean drunkenly flowing slowly? I switched galaxy with Milky Way or 银河 to better fit the image of a river.)
潇潇红尘
(潇潇 according to my dictionary, means the pattering or drizzling of wind and rain. However 红尘 means mortal world, human society a.k.a. NOT wind or rain. I made do with the imagery of it feeling very airy = fragile? I think it might also have to do with 红尘 being made up of the characters for 'red dust' so the dust could be drizzling...?)
听晓月
(Had to look up two different phrases for this. 晓月 means the moon at dawn. 听月 literally means listen to the moon but is used to mean 'sincerely appreciating the moon'. Here's the full Baidu translation for the latter it's very literary: 听月是指抛开尘世的烦琐，用"心"赏月的一种平静心态，一种忘我境界. Listening to the moon means casting aside the concerns of the human world, using 'heart' to enjoy the moonlight, a kind of peaceful state of mind, an aura of forgetting oneself. Phew.)
一路烽烟
('The entire road lit with beacon fires'. This part is supposed to represent I think, a hard road because usually beacon fires are lit when there's a war going on.)
并肩
(lit. shoulder to shoulder)
I both love and hate these 'ancient China' vibe songs because I love the way they sound but the literary lyrics kill me every time. Unfortunately I love ancient Chinese dramas too much to let go. This one's from 庆余年 or Joy of Life [lit. celebrating the remaining years] which is an amazing drama with a killer cast and great plot that's a perfect mix of comedy and drama. Highly recommended!!! I might end up doing a translation of the opening song later...
